Brief description
The course is organized into three components: (1) general English, 4 hours a week; (2) grammar and vocabulary study, 2 hours a week; (3) speaking and writing, 2 hours a week. This course develops and consolidates students' knowledge of English, with emphasis on all language skills: reading and listening comprehension; speaking and writing. It also includes systematic study of grammar and vocabulary. During the course students: (1) read and analyse original English texts, available on the Internet, in newspapers and books, including reading materials specially prepared to practise exam-type tasks. The emphasis is on developing reading skills; (2) listen to original radio programmes, interviews, reports, university lectures with emphasis put on developing listening comprehension skills; (3) write compositions, using formal style, with the required length of 350 words.
