Brief description

The course is organized into three components: (1) general English, 4 hours a week; (2) grammar and vocabulary study, 2 hours a week; (3) speaking and writing, 2 hours a week.

This course develops and consolidates students' knowledge of English, with emphasis on all language skills: reading and listening comprehension; speaking and writing. It also includes systematic study of grammar and vocabulary.

During the course students:

(1) read and analyse original English texts, available on the Internet, in newspapers and books, including reading materials specially prepared to practise exam-type tasks. The emphasis is on developing reading skills;

(2) listen to original radio programmes, interviews, reports, university lectures with emphasis put on developing listening comprehension skills;

(3) write compositions, using formal style, with the required length of 350 words. The tasks include letters to the editor, reviews, reports, essays, and formalised reports based on selected ra

Brief description

The objective of the course is the acquisition of the second language of specialization. The student learns about the grammatical system of the language, broadens knowledge of vocabulary and writing system as well as the pragmatic and cultural context. After the course the student achieves the B1 fluency level.
