"Material and existential evidence” of resurrection

Module aim

. The present lectures and conversation are an attempt at an integral approach to human convictions. In his or her beliefs and convictions each person grasps the world in its entirety, in an integral way and in some relation to transcendence, in our case to resurrection. The process of getting to know "material and existential evidence" of resurrection the surrounding reality proceeds on many levels and through many channels that are described by particular sciences and irreducible to one another. The effect of research undertaken in such a perspective will be presented from two point of view, first science approach of burial clothes, and second existential approach of meeting with God.

. How to present, describe human way from doubt through convictions to certainty?

Week 1: Presentation of the course contents, aims and requirements.

Introduction. Discussion of literature.

Week 2: "Material evidence" of resurrection, what is it?

Week 3: A scheme of the probable arrangement of Christ's burial clothes.

What do we know? Archaeological approach.

Week 4: The Shroud of Turin. Science approach.

Week 5: Manoppello Image. Science approach.

Week 6: Sudarium of Oviedo. Science approach.

Week 7: The Holy Coif of Cahors. Science approach.

Week 8: Comparison of the blood sudarium of Oviedo and the Manoppello Image.

Discussion of results in group.

Week 9: Comparison of the shroud of Turin and the Manoppello Image.

Discussion of results in group.

Week 10: Superior conclusions in context of belief, conviction and certainty. Recommendations for shaping of conviction.

Week 11: "Existential evidence", what is it?

Week 12: Mary of Magdala as the first witness to the empty tomb, her process of changing convictions.

Week 13: Mary of Magdala and her doubts. Existential dialog.

Week 14: Existential relation as "proof" of truth. Recommendations for shaping of conviction.

Week 15: Conclusion, philosophical and theological, world view in the context of biblical words: And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. [1 Cor 15,14-15]
