Short description:

Field research on 5-14 May 2019 in Kudowa Zdrój. realization of individual ethnographic mini-projects on borderland issues, local economics, anthropology of sanatorium, urban studies and tourism.

content of the classes:

1. Presentation of the research area and discussion of basic research topics (stationary / pre-departure activities)

2. Discussion of the principles of fieldwork (stationary / pre-departure activities)

3. Preparation of an individual micro-research project: queries, work with texts indicated by the lecturers, selection of research methods (stationary / pre-departure activities)

4. Workshops on keeping audiovisual documentation and its preparation (stationary / pre-departure activities)

5. Fieldwork and daily evaluation (field activities)

6. Work on the collected empirical material. Workshops on the development of audiovisual material. Discussion of the principles for the development of test results in the form of a report. Learning how to combine materials created with existing ones (stationary / off-road classes)

Learning outcomes:

After completing the student module:

1. Can use ethnographic methods in the field and knows their limitations

2. Knows the difference between the "full" participant observation and its elements related to the interview.

3. Knows the ethical rules of anthropologists in the course of research

4. Can acquire, analyze and develop the collected research material

5. Knows the rules for the development of a text regarding research results (report, presentation)
