  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Module learning aims:

The aim of the course is to provide practical knowledge on collecting, analyzing, and presenting archaeological data applying contemporary information technology.

Full description:

Course gives practical knowledge about collecting, analyzing and presenting archaeological data by using a spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel), presentation of research results in the form of a text document (Microsoft Word), presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint) or web page, use the tools database (Microsoft Access, AZP_MAX, relational databases), development of graphical data (CorelDRAW, Photoshop), development of geophysical data (Geoplot, Surfer, Snuffler), matters relating to GIS (MapInfo), analysis of aerial photographs (AirPhoto).

Student: 1) gains the basic knowledge about application of computer tools in archaeological research,

2) gains the understanding of pros and cons of each methods, 3) gains the skills necessary to collecting, analyzing and presenting data in various forms.
