Module learning aims:

The principal objectives of the M.A. seminar in ARCHAEOLOGY at the UAM are as follows:

1) to give students the deepened experiences and guidance necessary for them to be able to formulate a realistic research proposal, and to prepare written work (M.A. thesis) based on such a proposal to a strict timetable;

2) to show students how to marshal and deal with relevant bibliography, to broaden their appreciation of the principal issues that shape a given field, and to encourage them to develop insights which might form the basis of an original contribution to their M.A. thesis;

3) to give students the experiences of attending and contributing to a weekly graduate seminar, and in particular of presenting their own work and discussing the issues that arise from it with an audience of other students and member of the Faculty (Professor).

Full description:

The M.A. seminar in Archaeology at UAM (3 semesters) is the most important course of graduate study designed to give students the opportunity to do some focused own research in chosen subjects under close supervision, and to acquire or develop skills and expertise relevant to their research interests.

Learning outcomes:

The seminar leads to preparation of written work (M.A. thesis) on subject approved by the Professor of the Faculty (supervisor). Approaches used by students to work on their thesis are formulated and conducted in conjunction with the supervisors.
