  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Full description:

Lecture leads to demonstrate through the prism of archaeological transformations that led to the emergence of a major cultural backgrounds present in Central Europe in the pre-Roman Iron Age. The main emphasis was here on the following archaeological culturs: La Tene-, Jastorf- and Zarubiency-Culture. Through the prism of their transformations will be presented the image of society functioning at this time in Central Europe and the type of change to which it is then the subject in all spheres of civilization. Depending on the needs shown in this order will also link them with a zone of ancient civilizations of the world as well as contacts with well-known student of the basic cycle cultural units from the lands of modern Poland, namely the Przeworsk- and Oksywska-Culture.

Lecture content

Presentation of the changes taking place among the Central European Barbaricum community during the pre-Roman Iron Age:

- Presentation of the cultures of Central Europe

- Birth and development of the local pre-Roman Iron Age civilization

- Styles that characterize the material determinants of their chronological development

- The impact of civilization

- Transformation leading to the emergence of a community typical of the Roman period.

Learning outcomes:

Student:

1) obtains advanced knowledge about the social, economic, cultural and material occurring among prehistoric communities in Central European Barbaricum during the pre-Roman Iron Age;

2) understands how there have interplanetary contacts between peoples living outside the area of ancient civilization;

3) has the ability to identify archaeological materials and styles typical for the most important contemporary cultural units of Central Europe.
