  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Module learning aims:

The purpose of the course is the presentation of the historical background of the development of ancient cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt and Anatolia. This gaol results from the conviction that it is not possible to understand those cultures without the basic knowledge of historical facts and processes.

Full description:

During the course the history of the Ancient Near East will be discussed in the following parts the ancient history of entire Fertile Triangle from the emergence of the Sumerian city-states to the conquest of Mesopotamia by the Persians in 539 B.C. During the course the history of Egypt, Anatolia and Syria-Palestine are going to be discussed in separate classes.
