Module learning aims: | The purpose of the course is the presentation of the historical background of the development of ancient cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt and Anatolia. This gaol results from the conviction that it is not possible to understand those cultures without the basic knowledge of historical facts and processes. |

During the course the history of the Ancient Near East will be discussed in the following parts the ancient history of entire Fertile Triangle from the emergence of the Sumerian city-states to the conquest of Mesopotamia by the Persians in 539 B.C. During the course the history of Egypt, Anatolia and Syria-Palestine are going to be discussed in separate classes. |
