Cele kształcenia: | This course aims to systematically present an overview of reasoning process and major interpretive procedures in archaeology. In particular, different approaches to major categories of archaeological data, along with their heuristic potential, are scrutinized. It further aims to discuss rules of building up empirical evidence for any given research project as well presents major rules of quantifying archaeological data. The second part of the course is devoted to practical application of these rules for building up empirical evidence for individual research projects conducted by each student. |

Efekty uczenia się: |
Student: 1) will gain the knowledge of: heuristic value of major categories of archaeological data used in prehistoric and early Medieval archaeology as well as relationships between research project, applied theoretical framework and selection of different categories of data and their variables; 2) will gain the understanding of: the principles of constructing empirical evidence for implementation of different research strategies as well as understanding of the relations between the selection of data and their variables and research questions along with their definition within the adopted theoretical perspective; 3) will gain the skills necessary to: create an adequate empirical evidence aimed at addressing any given research problem as well as establish relationships between these elements of the research process; consequently, student gains necessary competences and is able to design any research project. |
