Short description:

The contents: pedagogic aspects of socio-environmental conditions of upbringing and human development; main streams of Polish social pedagogy from the historical perspective; scientific identity of pedagogy at the turn of the century, challenges of social pedagogy at the beginning of XXI century; subject, range, main tasks, functions, interdisciplinary character; chosen main concepts, social powers as a central category of pedagogy, getting to know educational environment and its main elements and socio-educational problems, educational aspects of local environments, environmental context of school, contemporary dilemmas of school socialization, school organization and activation rules; main directions of pedagogical work in the environment; socio-educational work methods, social work as a help in development, people in the situation of danger: chosen social issues.

Full description:

Objectives: presenting social pedagogy as an academic discipline and one of the main scientific areas of pedagogy; introducing to pedagogic aspects of socio-environmental conditions of upbringing and human development; orientation in practical application of social pedagogy to transform life environment into educational environment, perfect social care systems and education in relation to values.

Outcomes: students gain knowledge about socio-environmental conditions of upbringing and human development in the perspective of social and cultural transformation; gain abilities to notice and distinguish social issues and problems; understand significance of professional social diagnosis for effective solving individual and social problems; understand significance of educational cooperation with different social groups and institutions, aiming to optimize activities of different social environments.
