  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

After completing the course, students will have:

I knowledge of:

1.human sexual development as a continuous process integrally connected with other areas of life

2. different psychological theories that can be used to analyze human sexuality, e.g. life-span theory, the ecological model of human sexuality

3.determinants of human sexual development

4.different concepts of the sexual norm for adults and for children

5.typical and atypical human sexual behavior at different stages of development

II Skills of:

1.application of appropriate theoretical approach in order to understand the specific behavior related to human sexual functioning

2.distinguishing between typical and atypical sexual behavior at various stages of development

3.correct application of the sexual norm criteria depending on the developmental phase of a person

III Social competences allowing to:

1.make conscious decisions on possible further education and work in the fields of human sexuality

2.reflexivity and criticism in the processing of information about human sexuality

classes in traditional form (in the classroom)

Pre-requisites in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences:

1. Students already know the most basic psychological terminology.

2. Students are willing to take part in the discussion and work in groups.

Lecture, text analysis, discussion in a group, movie analysis, case studies analysis

Short description:

The course is an introduction into the field of human psychosexual development. The main goal of the seminar is verification of students' common knowledge about human psychosexual development and combing it with the knowledge based on present scientific findings. The aim of the course is to provide the concept of human sexual development as a continuous process subordinated to two sources of determination: social and biological. The interpersonal and social aspects of human sexual behavior in different stages of life will be widely explored.

10. High risk sexual behaviour of young people

11. Adult sexuality and relationships: phases and models

5. Have knowledge of different concepts of the sexual norm for adults and for children

6. Apply the appropriate theoretical approach in order to understand the specific behaviours related to human sexual functioning

7. Distinguish between typical and atypical sexual behaviour at various stages of development

8. Correctly apply the sexual norm criteria depending on the developmental phase of a person

9. Be able to make conscious decision on possible further education and work in the fields of human sexuality

10. Display reflexivity and criticism in the processing of information about human sexuality

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Final test with multiple choice questions.

Grades criteria:

very good (5.0): 91-100% correct answers

good plus (4.5): 81-90% of correct answers

good (4,0): 71-80% of correct answers

satisfactory plus (3.5): 61-70% of correct answers

satisfactory (3.0): 51-60% of correct answers

insufficient (2.0): 50 and below correct answer
