  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

- To present the history and evolution of contemporary Chinese literature.


- To familiarize participants with selected, representative works and the main ideas of this epoch;


- To revise and consolidate information on literary genres;


- To analyze Chinese literature and to compare it with Western literature;


- To experience the contact with Chinese-language literature and get the basic knowledge of the most important works and authors;


- To bring Chinese culture closer through literature.


- To develop their ability to understand and interpret the text being read and to prepare a written expression (review, essay, etc.) on the basis of texts.

This course is about to present the history and evolution of contemporary Chinese literature.

This course is about to present the history and evolution of contemporary Chinese literature.

The main aim is to:

* familiarize participants with selected, representative works and the main ideas of this epoch;

* to repeat and consolidate information on literary genres;

* to analyze Chinese literature and to compare it with Western literature;

* to experience the contact with Chinese-language literature and get the basic knowledge of the most important works and authors;

* and finally, to bring Chinese culture closer through literature.

Students are also supposed to develop their ability to understand and interpret the text being read and to prepare a written expression (review, essay, etc.) on the basis of texts.

The following contents are covered:

Learning outcomes:

After a successful completion of the course, a student:

- knows the history of contemporary Chinese literature;

- lists literary works characteristic of the epoch;

recognizes the similarities and differences between Cinese and European literary works;

- finds information about the discussed topics in different sources;

- formulates critical opinions about the discussed issues;

- individually prepares written works on assigned topics;

- is willing to get to familiarize themselves with the works of Chinese literature/film/drama;

- is willing to participate in discussions about literature and culture on the basis of the acquired knowledge;

- cares about the quality of oral and written output;

- is aware of the role played by literature in Chinese society.
