Short description:	The course will introduce the student to anthropology as a comparative study of culture, society, and human difference. Its aim is to force students to question the universality of cultural categories, and to consider the many ways in which people’s lives are shaped by historical, cultural and social forces and images. The course will introduce the student to the history of the discipline and its future challenges; and to primary domains of social and cultural anthropology, such as social organization (including kinship and gender); power and political violence; belief, religion and cosmology; colonialism and development; economic and social exchange; capitalist inequalities and global climate crisis.
Full description:	The course will introduce the student to anthropology as a comparative study of culture, society, and human difference. Learning outcomes:	(in Polish) Po zakończeniu modułu (przedmiotu) i potwierdzeniu osiągnięcia efektów kształcenia student potrafi: - Będzie miał wiedzę dotyczącą kultury i teorii kultury, a także powiązanych z nią pojęć, takich jak wielokulturowość i międzykulturowość - Rozwinie umiejętność krytycznej oceny różnych dyskursów dotyczących kultury i społeczeństwa; rozumie podejścia różnych dyscyplin do tematu - Zdobędzie wiedzę na temat głównych faktów i kwestii dotyczących polityki kulturowej - Krytycznie rozumieć kulturę jako czynnik różnicujący społecznie Widział kulturę jako siłę zarówno kreatywną jak i dyscyplinującą
