Full description:	Art, history, literature and economy of the Baltic countries. The role of studying literature and culture of this region. The world of art and literature, famous modern poets, painters and sculpturers of Lithuania and Latvia. Knowledge of Baltic administrative structures and politics, political and administrative institutions in Baltic states, such as: a government, a parliament, political parties, administration. The development of Baltic democracies. Selected economical issues. Analysis and comparison of different economical figures Individual work on specific problems, preparing speeches, presentations and teamworking Participation in discussions

Learning outcomes:	After successefully finishing the course, the student: - has the wide knowledge of the baltic countries - understands the role of studying literature and culture of this region - is able to analyse and compare different economical figures - can conclude main problems - can work individualy, preparing speaches, presentations and with the group of people is able to prepare and present oral and written speaches - is able to take part in discussion
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	Active participation in the course. Passing the control tests (every four units, minimum 61%) ana a final test; writing a term essay on a selected topic. Max. 2 absencies per semester allowed. The final grade based on the result of a written and oral exam. (<61% - ndst, 61-70% dst, 71-75% dst+, 76-85% db, 86-90% db+, 91%< bdb)
