Module learning aims:

The subject of serial classes is descriptive grammar of Modern Greek language. Students who attend the classes, obtain gnowledge about Modern Greek graphic system, phonetics, phonology, morphology and parts of speech. The students are able to use the theoretical knowledge which they obtaibned, in practical use of language.

The aim of the classes is to make students acquitant wit Moden Greek Grammar and particularly with following topics: writtening, phonetic system, orthography, lexis, semantics, morphology and syntax.

It is presupposed that studesnt who attend the classes are able to use practically the theoretical knowledge they obtain during the classes, therefore type of classes is exercise.

Full description:

Descriptive Grammar of Modern Greek Language consists of many theoretical and practiocal thematic units whicha are: writtening, phonetic system, orthography, lexis, semantics, morphology and syntax. In the frame of the mentioned above general units some particular topisc are to be analysed and to be presented: ie.: syntactic and semantic functions of all parts of Modern Greek Speech. Moreover, when performin the aims of the subject, stylistic patterns of standard Modern Greek are to be presented, i.e.: common speech, spoken language, written language. The subject includes also basic issues of textual grammar.

It is presupposed that students who attend the classes are able to use practically the theoretical knowledge they obtain during the classes, therefore type of classes is exercise.

Learning outcomes:

Student i) knows and use Polish and Greek terminology concerning Modern Greek graphic and phonetic system. phonology, morphology and spech parts of Modern Greek language, ii) specifies manners of articulation relevant to Modern Greek sounds and describe sound in the scope of their articulation patterns, iii) knows differs and describes phonological and orthographical phenomena of Modern Greek language, iv) describes and use the most important suprasegmental of Moder Greek language, v) knows and analyze morphological structure of Modern Greek words, vi) enumerates main types od derivation processes connected with inflection and regognizes them in the scope os Modern Greek words, vii) knows and enumerates inflection categories of Modern Greeek nominal and verbal phrase, viii) describes criteria od Modern Greeek word devision into parts of speech categories, ix) enumerates categories of speech parts and their types, x) knows and use basic terminology conserning Moder Greek morphology, inflection, syntax, lexicology and textology, xi) knows and use terminology meaning units and levels of language description concerning Polish and Modern Greek, xii) enumerates types of sentences and analyze their structure, xiii) knows nad enumerate parts od Modern Greek sentences and recognize them in texts, xiv) describes word order and its conditiions in Modern Greek language, xv) classyfies and describes semantic patterns of Modern Greek lexicon, xvi) knows and use basic Modern Greek phraseology, xvii) knows sociolect, dialectical and pragmatic complexity of Modern Greek language, xviii) knows and classifies types of text, xix) analyses gramamtical amnd semantic structure of sentences and texts.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Ongoing control of teaching results in the form of written tests. Written final exam.

Partucular conditions needed to obtain positive note:

- regular class attending (max. 4 hours of unexcused absence per semester),

- positive nots of all partial tests (alltogether min. 3 written partial tests, note criteria: <61% - not passed (2), 61-70% - passed (3), 71-75% - passed + (3+), 76-85% - well (4), 86-90% - well + (4+), >90% - very well),

- positive note of final written test.
