Short description:

Lilthuanian language system and its subsystems.

Full description:

A) phonetically: system of vocals and consonants; diphthongs; phonetic processes; the structure of syllables; word stress and syllable intonations.

B) phonologically: distinctive feature matrix of vocal and consonant phonemes; phonological interpretation of diphthongs V+C and [uo], [ie] neutralization of opposition, suprasegmental elements.

Students gain knowledge of the Lithuanian phonetics and phonology: the way of generation sounds of Lithuanian language; word stress and syllable intonations; the phonological system of vocals and consonants, neutralization of oppositions.

Verbal and nominal categories of the Lithuanian language, their formal expression and usage (tense, aspect, mood, case, definiteness, number)

Verbal and nominal derivation,

Selected topics of syntax (participial and infinitival constructions, e.g. supinum and budinys, focus markers and other particles, coordination vs. subordination)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Tets and two exams every two semesters.
