  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the category of gender, the way it is constructed and how it functions.

Gender as a category in the humanities

Full description:

Students get familiar with gender seen from points of view of various disciplines of studies such as, for example, philosophy, literary criticism, sociology, culture studies, anthropology.

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course, students:

are aware of the problem of gender inequality;

are sensitive to the problem of gender inequality and social and cultural gender-based discrimination in schools and other institutions;

are able to construct an argumentative/analytical paper in which they apply the new knowledge and methods of critical analysis;

are aware of historical and cultural factors in gender construction.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

A short presentation of the project on a selected topic related to the course;

a written test;

an analytical/argumentative essay on a selected topic.
