Full description: |
"History of Philosophy" is an important and integral part of general knowledge for university students of Humanities. The subject consists of four parts: 1) Philosophy as important thinking in historical and contemporary context; 2) The relations between philosophy, culture and science; 3) History of philosophical thought: chosen periods; 4) Philosophical schools and traditions in XX century and today. The course objectives: 1) Students will gain detailed and in-depth knowledge of preliminary philosophical issues combined with the elements of history of philosophy and contemporary philosophical schools. 2) The obligatory literature will help students understand the discussed issues and problems. 3) Students will practice: a. rational thinking and logical formulation of thoughts and ideas b. The ability to express and interpret existential problems in a positive and proper way c. Interest in philosophical and scientific questions d. The ability to study and analyze philosophical texts with understanding e. The ability to use this knowledge to solve their own existential problems. 4) Students will see philosophy as one of the Arts dealing with the crucial problems of human existence and attempting to find answers to the most elementary and complex questions that have always pervaded human societies. |
