Short description:	An overview of social diagnosis concepts in sociology, social work and social pedagogy. Types of research in sociology and social work. Rank of diagnosis n sociological research. Basic rules of diagnosing. Diagnosing social problem and diagnosing individual situation. Diagnosing in social research. Significance of particular diagnosis stages. Diagnosis as a first stage in the social intervention process. Diagnostic research. Main goals, researcher's skills Conditions of a good diagnosis. Differences between diagnostic research and diagnostic description. Forms of diagnostic description. Research techniques applied and recommended in diagnosing individual needs. Rules of creating research tools. Model of social help development strategy as an example of applying diagnostic research to designing social change and solving social problems. Models of local and regional strategies.
Full description:	Introducing students to basic methodological rules of diagnostic research and types of prognostic research. Preparing students to run diagnostic research and apply the results to solve social problems in local environments and creating strategies of innovation. Presenting different ways of analysis and synthesis of empirical data in diagnosing chosen social problems.
