Cele kształcenia: | Course aims: - interpersonal: critical abilities, interdisciplinary skills, ability to appreciate cultural diversity, ability to work in the individual and collective way, - instrumental: ability to analyze and synthesize, general knowledge, basic knowledge in the field of Central European art, political and literary history, English writing and speaking skills, information management skills (gaining and analyzing information and data from different sources), - comprehensive: learning skills, individual work skills, research skills, creativity, understanding other cultures and habits. |

Wymagania wstępne w zakresie wiedzy, umiejętności oraz kompetencji: | Basic knowledge about European culture and tradition, ability to formulate opinions and judgments on the subject of literature and culture (as well in writing as in oral presentation). |
Metody prowadzenia zajęć umożliwiające osiągnięcie założonych EK: | Lecture with a multimedia presentation, interactive lecture, problem-based lecture, discussions, text-based work, workshop method, project work, demonstration and observation, sound and/or video demonstration, creative methods, group work, b-learning, indivudal work. |

Course learning content: - explaining and briefly describing the history of the concept of Central Europe, diversity in its definition and its delimiting, - presentation of the culture or traditions of Central Europe and historical, geopolitical, national, transnational, literary context of its existence, - presentation of the most important phenomena and trends in Central European culture (literature), representative authors and texts of culture in relation to national communities, - discussion on the social and political phenomena that determine the shape of literature and culture of selected Central European countries (in the past and currently). |

Efekty uczenia się: |
On successful completion of this course, a student will be able to: - define and describe main conceptions about Central Europe, - specify a place of Central European literature and culture in a wider European context, - relate and compare different literary, historical, cultural, political and social phenomena, motivate their influence on the form of modern Central European culture and particular regional states; construe chosen works, literary or artistic visions according to historical and literary context, - build coherent, critical comment (written or spoken) on the subject of Central Europe, find adequate sources of information, competently and functionally use knowledge from lectures and other sources, - justify his/ her interpretations, develop them and resolve them within the group; recapitulate his/her experience of reading, - compile knowledge gained during the classes, develop, clarify and reconstruct the phenomena of cultural and literary history, - understand other cultures on the basis of the knowledge obtained; be aware of historical, political and cultural circumstances influencing artistic creations. |

Assessment criteria: very good (bdb; 5,0): very good knowledge of the content discussed during classes, very good ability to analyze and interpret literary texts, very good ability to formulate judgments (orally and in writing) on Central European literature and culture. good plus (+db; 4,5): as above, with some slight deficiencies. good (db; 4,0): wider range of deficiencies is possible: student presents weaker ability to analyze and interpret, weaker ability to formulate judgments (orally and in writing) on Central European literature and culture. satisfactory plus (+dst; 3,5): satisfactory knowledge of the content discussed during the classes, satisfactory ability to analyze and interpret the literary texts, satisfactory ability to formulate judgments ((orally and in writing) on Central European literature. satisfactory (dst; 3,0): as above, with some deficiencies. unsatisfactory (ndst; 2,0): deficiency off knowledge and skills mentioned above. |
