ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Module learning aims:

Course aims:

- teaching how to use basic information in the field of tourism-related knowledge,

- providing students with knowledge in building their own image in the company, the basics of international brand creation and management, interpersonal communication,

- drawing attention to the need of business education in the humanities,

- teaching how to use tourist knowledge in practice,

- familiarizing with the terms and concepts used in the tourism industry,

- showing students the possibility of using information obtained during studies at work in tourism,

- making students aware of the role of intercultural communication in the functioning of modern tourist offices.

Lecture with a multimedia presentation, discussions, workshop method, project work, group work.

Full description:

Course learning content:

- tour-guiding of tourist groups,

- tourist group management,

- preparation the presentations of product for tourist offers,

- forms of contacting customers,

- pilot as a group leader,

- tourism and new media,

- new forms of tourism.

Learning outcomes:

On successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:

- define the basic concepts related to tourism and communication in the field of tourism,

- recognize the importance of communication and intercultural dialogue in the tourism industr,

- describe the essence of tourism and relate it to knowledge of the history, language, culture of Central Europe and the Balkan Peninsula,

- indicate the need to use humanistic knowledge in the field of history, language, culture of Central Europe and the Balkan Peninsula in tourism,

- use the acquired knowledge in practice - can pilot a tourist group.

very good (bdb; 5,0): very good knowledge of issues related to selected issues in the field of tourism; very high skills in teamwork and in multimedia presentations.

good plus (+db; 4,5): quite good knowledge of issues related to selected issues in the field of tourism; high skills in teamwork and multimedia presentations.

good (db; 4,0): good knowledge of issues related to selected issues in the field of tourism; high skills in teamwork and multimedia presentations.

satisfactory plus (+dst; 3,5): good knowledge of issues related to selected issues in the field of tourism; sufficient skills in teamwork and in multimedia presentations.

sastisfactory (dst; 3,0): sufficient knowledge of issues related to selected issues in the field of tourism; sufficient skills in teamwork and in multimedia presentations.
