  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Selected passages from Herodotus and Thucydides:

on Egypt (Herodotus book 2), about the Persian expedition under Xerxes (parts of book 7), and on the Scythians (parts of book 4);

Thucydides’ remarks on his project and method (1.1 & 1.22), his portraits of Perikles (e.g., his funeral speech) and of Alcibiades (e.g., the Sicilian expedition), and his analysis of the war (in Corfu, 3. 82-4, and in Melus 5. 84-116);
