Short description:

The course presents analytical technique of atomic absorption spectrometry, routine usage in determination of trace contents of elements. The theoretical basement of analytical technique, construction of instrumentation, analytical solutions (HGAAS, GFAAS, CVAAS or flow injection analysis) and usage of atomic absorption spectrometry in analysis of environmental samples will be described in details. Additionally the problems connected with planned analytical studies, sampling and samples preparation, and quality of analysis (uncertainty, traceability, reference materials, control cards etc.) will be shown. The opportunities of techniques of atomic absorption spectrometry in speciation analysis will be presented. The lecture will be accompanied by presentation of atomic absorption spectrometers with different analytical techniques and the usage of atomic absorption spectrometer as chromatographic detector.

Full description:

The aim of the course is presentation of present knowledge of analytical technique of atomic absorption spectrometry. Upon completion of the course student will be able to show the skill of trace analysis problems solutions by: well-matched analytical technique based on knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of the different analytical techniques, the way of sampling and samples preparation, the control of analytical process, well results interpretation.
